Typhoon Saturday in Hong Kong: No Photography, Just Fixing Mobile CSS

Today is Saturday, and while I had hoped for a day of shooting, Hong Kong was visited by a typhoon—so, no photography today. Instead, I turned my attention to something that’s just as important (but far less glamorous): fixing the mobile CSS on my website.

As a working photographer, especially one offering services like corporate portraits, headshots, editorial photography, and boudoir sessions, I know that a clean, mobile-friendly website is critical. More and more clients are finding us while browsing on their phones—often during commutes or business trips. First impressions matter, and if your site doesn’t look right on mobile, you may lose a potential commission before they even read about your work.

But wow—it’s not easy.

Different mobile devices render pages differently, screen resolutions vary wildly, and many people adjust their default font sizes or zoom settings. Something that looks perfect on one phone can look completely broken on another. So I spent the day digging into media queries, testing on multiple devices, tweaking spacing, and adjusting text hierarchy to ensure the most important information is clear, readable, and accessible.

As a headshot photographer in Hong Kong, I always say lighting is everything—but online, presentation is everything. My site needs to reflect the same professionalism I bring to each shoot. If a corporate client is scrolling on their iPhone while flying into Hong Kong or Shenzhen, I want them to immediately feel confident that I’m the right person to deliver polished, reliable results.

If you spot anything that looks strange on your device while browsing hkphoto.com, please contact me and let me know—your feedback helps make the site better for everyone.
